Introduction to Arts Media and Entertainment
In this introductory-level class, students will create images via digital cameras and with digital media applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, and Illustrator. This course offers intensive hands-on production through project-based and work-based assignments. Students work collaboratively on projects while learning how to use cameras and lenses and how to put those images into layouts and visual stories in various digital applications. The course also introduces students to Visual Literacy by analyzing and discussing how visual images have shaped history and society. Students will engage with images from various mediums They will learn about the elements and principles of design and analyze, explain, and demonstrate how they can be used to entertain, inform and persuade effectively. They will use these design elements to create high quality work that synthesizes theoretical discourse with personal experience. They will learn skills related to media production, digital and analog forms of making images and arranging them in both digital and analog layouts focused on visual media as communication. Students will work collaboratively and with a focus on ethics in the media and employment to meet Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry's career readiness standards. Students will meet Visual Art, Common Core State Writing Standards, and Art, Media, and Entertainment Standards while encouraging students to become practical and ethical participants in the media world.
Consentration in Media Arts
Media Arts students will create videos and animations that educate, inform, and entertain by synthesizing their academic understanding of digital Literacy, entertainment history, and current career practices. They will employ practical skills gained in the Introduction to Arts Media and Entertainment class to engage with various software, such as Storyboard and Adobe Cloud products, as they bring movement and sound to their graphic design and photography work learned in the introduction class and gain industry badges on these skills for their resume. This course will give students an overview of the history, types, uses, and applications of moving and story-based visual communication. During this concentration course in media, students will learn about the many careers in Video/Sound Production and Animation. Students will write stories and scripts and bring those stories to life via video and animation as image-based storytelling. Students will analyze and interpret the various forms of media by looking at sender–receiver models, authorship, credibility, purpose, technique, context, and economics. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the power of media by using their learned skills and concepts to create media ethically, collaboratively, and inclusively.
Publication Design In the publication design course, students will utilize their knowledge gained in the Introduction to Visual Arts Media and Entertainment course. Led by advanced media student editors, they produce media for publication in the yearbook. Students will use graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital layout programs to prepare their work for submission to publishing companies. Students will take photographs at the school and local events using a variety of professional-level cameras, write all copy, and decide on the content and design to be published in the yearbook. Students will work as a team to develop designs and thematic concepts, plan for the stages of the publication lifecycle, meet deadlines, and edit work. Students also gain experience with social media, advertising, marketing, public relations, and real-world business skills.

Advance Media Arts
Advanced Media Arts is a capstone Arts Media and Entertainment Pathways practicum that culminates in a student's ability to apply to industry employment. Advanced Media is a hands-on course designed for individuals looking to develop and enhance their skills in creating engaging multimedia content together that understands the importance of the ability to effectively and ethically communicate through various media with peer support, with respect for a diversity of multiple jobs—such as video, audio, graphics, and text and how they work together to communicate effectively.
We will work to create a comprehensive foundation in multimedia production, equipping students with the tools and techniques necessary to craft compelling stories and content for a diverse set of experiences for our platforms.
It also works to build skills that make one employable and trainable in all media fields, such as communication, collaboration, and community building, while also expressing and promoting one's personal creative voice.

Course Format: The course uses student-run media for the AHS community, along with lectures, workshops, and the creation of a dynamic student-structured learning environment. Students can work on real-world projects, fostering practical experience that students can directly apply in the workplace and allowing them to creatively drive projects and ideas that affect their community.
Guest speakers and Field trips will allow students to share insights and best practices, providing valuable networking opportunities.
Pathway: This course is only suitable for 3rd-year CTE pathway students interested in developing multimedia skills in a work-based setting.
Students' capstone projects will be developed this year via multimedia, such as broadcast journalism, leadership in print journalism, digital layouts, graphic design and visual communication, animation, and video production. To create a product portfolio, they will add these to their previous package in the last two years. In addition, the course prepares students for industry demands by providing experiences that build .trainibale and employable people. Students will be able to exhibit specific career readiness skills outlined in the Industry/ CTE Visual Arts Media and Entertainment Career Standards to be productive and effective in their employment in the career of their choice.
